Why Support FRTS?
First responders are on the front lines of every emergency, but who’s there for them when they need help? At FRTS, we provide critical services to first responders who are experiencing trauma, stress, and mental health challenges.

Your donation directly funds therapy sessions, support groups, and wellness programs that save lives.

Our campaigns and educational programs are designed to reduce stigma around mental health issues in the first responder community. Peer support programs, mental health literacy training and our central location offer emergency service providers opportunities to come together for connection, counseling and care. Our diverse funding sources, including public grants and private donations, ensure the sustainability of our counseling services.

The CENTER
The CENTER is a dedicated facility created specifically for those who serve on the front lines of our communities—911 dispatchers, firefighters, law enforcement officers, paramedics, nurses, physicians, coroners, justice professionals, and other emergency response personnel. It is a purpose-built space where the realities of high-risk, high-stress work are understood, respected, and addressed through evidence-based and innovative therapeutic practices.
The psychological demands placed on frontline professionals are substantial and cumulative. The CENTER exists to meet those demands with intentional design, clinical excellence, and a setting that supports regulation, recovery, and long-term resilience—outside of traditional clinical or institutional environments.
Operating and maintaining The CENTER, while supporting the full scope of programs offered by First Responder Trauma Services, requires sustained financial support. Donations directed to The CENTER directly fund the space, infrastructure, and services that make this work possible.

Your contribution ensures that those who protect and serve our communities have reliable access to a place built for their care—today and for years to come.

DIRECT PROFESSIONAL SERVICES
Professional Direct Services are the core of what First Responder Trauma Services (FRTS) provides. These are the services delivered directly to first responders and frontline professionals at critical moments—during and after difficult calls, in the aftermath of major incidents, and across the long arc of a demanding career. This includes support on some of their hardest days, as well as guidance and preparation that helps them remain grounded, effective, and resilient over time.

All FRTS services are culturally informed, trauma informed, and grounded in one of our three core platforms: Prevention, Intervention, and Education. They are designed to fit the operational realities of emergency response work, recognizing the unique culture, pressures, and decision-making environments in which these professionals operate.

To ensure relevance and effectiveness, FRTS uses current, evidence-based practices tailored specifically for first responders and frontline workers. Our team brings hundreds of years of combined personal experience in first response, shaping how services are delivered, how resources are vetted, and how care is accessed. This lived experience allows us to meet individuals and agencies with credibility, clarity, and respect.

Donations designated for Professional Direct Services directly support this work—ensuring that trained professionals are available when first responders need support most, whether that is following a critical incident, during periods of cumulative stress, or as part of proactive preparation and education. Your contribution helps ensure that care is accessible, appropriate, and responsive to the real demands of the job.

OTHER/Where most needed
The needs of first responders and frontline professionals are not static. Critical incidents, cumulative exposure to trauma, and community-wide events can create sudden gaps in support that cannot always be anticipated or tied to a single program or location.
A donation to the Where the Need Is Greatest fund allows First Responder Trauma Services to respond responsibly and efficiently to these moments. These funds are applied with careful judgment to the most immediate and impactful needs—such as expanding access to services following a critical incident, supporting individuals or agencies facing acute stressors, or addressing barriers that would otherwise delay care.
This approach ensures that resources are directed where they will have the greatest practical effect, rather than being limited by rigid funding categories. All allocations are guided by our commitment to culturally informed, trauma-informed, and evidence-based practices, and aligned with our core platforms of Prevention, Intervention, and Education.

Community support through this fund enables FRTS to act decisively when timing matters, ensuring that help is available when it is most needed and most effective.
